Write It Down

a scrapbook 3

There is something powerful about writing down on our thoughts, goals, dreams, and intentions, accompanied by visual aids such as pictures or drawings.

Putting it all down on paper is a very effective tool for attaining our desires by seeing a physical representation or blueprint of our objectives. It helps to solidify their arrival by motivating us to take the daily action steps needed to make them come true.

Many of us prefer to use our electronic devices for all our correspondence but in this case, it is fun to see our goals come alive in the form of a book which really gives a power boost to their fulfillment.

To that end, I recently bought a scrapbook at a local craft store and put the words goal book on the outside.

On the blank pages inside, I am creating a goal on each page using stickers, affirmations, and drawings with markers to indicate personal goals in all areas.

For example, one group of stickers is of the beach for more immediate vacation goals, as well as, longer range plans to live near the ocean one day. For my husband we bought graduation stickers for use in his education goal of finishing his Master’s degree.

It is a creative way to get excited about what we would like to see come to fruition, along with an action plan, and specific time frames. This makes it more attainable and not just a mere wishing for what we want.

It is not about living in the future, and waiting for achievement of our goals in order to be happy. Conversely, it is about giving power and exuberant energy to each day by the empowering steps we take, and joyfully experiencing new ideas on our journey.

For instance, I recently felt inspired by the use of my goal book to change the format of my ‘Find Your Place of Serenity Series.’

I wanted to create a more intimate atmosphere that offered a safe and comfortable space for sharing more personally about what matters most to the participants in their life.

Therefore, I changed the series from a teaching course, that involved poster boards and reading out of an assigned book, to a candlelit room with empowering discussion about anything a participant feels inspired to talk about. This adjustment has made a tremendous difference in the group sharing.

This demonstrates how making a few small alterations can have an enormous impact on the results we receive, and how we ultimately feel.

Seeing our intentions written out can help us to find better ways to revitalize our daily habits and routines toward a more contented way of life, not only for today but for the future as well.

Action Step:

Write down an aspiration you have, and compliment it with a relevant picture, affirmation or drawing for an added energy boost.

Go Green

A st patricks day

As we know, going green is a term frequently used to describe the process of changing our lifestyle for the benefit and safety of the environment.

Individuals who go green make decisions about their daily lives based on the impact their actions have on their surroundings.

They pursue knowledge and practices that help protect the planet now, and for future generations to come.

They may also wear green to symbolize their commitment, and encourage others to participate in this important initiative.

Though the reasons are quite different, wearing green also symbolizes St. Patrick’s Day as well, for some of the reasons mentioned below:

  • Green is one of the colors in the Irish flag.
  • Green is the color of spring.
  • Ireland is known for its lush, green scenery.
  • Green is the color of the shamrock.

Going green not only spreads goodwill, but spreads good cheer as well, so enjoy spreading your joy around today, and every day.

Focus On Everything Working Out

a ego5

In the last several days I have come across two separate sources that discussed the affirmation, Things are always working out for me. As a result, I decided to utilize it in my daily thoughts, and have found it very empowering.

At first glance, one could say that this expression cannot possibly always make things work out for us. However, regularly thinking this way helps us to feel good on a more consistent basis which is ultimately what most of us are looking for, and this type of thinking makes that possible.

Usually, we wait to feel good until our goals are achieved and we get the job, house, car or relationship that we desire. We spend our time engaging in certain activities, buying particular products or hanging around certain people with the desire to feel better.

Ironically, if we feel good ahead of our reaching our goals, we are more likely to attract those good experiences, and not have to struggle so much in their attainment. The right people, books or circumstances are more likely to be attracted to us when our energy is positive.

Conversely, if we are upset and complaining all the time, than that has a definite energy attached to it as well, and may detour the needed assistance we long for.

When we make feeling good a priority, our life changes, so we need to take how we feel seriously; without waiting for external situations to arrive or thinking unhelpful thoughts.

We do have control over the thoughts we choose to think, and can find a way to look at just about everything in a way that feels better.

For example, in my own life, we recently sold our house for a greater goal, and the initial discomfort and sadness led to some unhelpful thoughts such as:

“I wish we hadn’t sold our house,” or “We made a mistake.”

Those have since been replaced with more uplifting thoughts such as:

“How courageous we are to have sold our home in the interest of pursuing our long range goals,” and “We make great decisions.”

It is easy to forget that the more we focus on doubts or what is not working, and talk about it all the time, the worse we feel, and the more we may prevent things working out.

So, begin to think, and feel that things are always working out for you.

What has been a helpful affirmation for you?

Raise Your Consciousness

a new earth

Oprah and Eckhart Tolle presented a web series back in 2008 with Eckhart’s book A New Earth; Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.

It was a 10 week gathering that brought together people from all over the world for a collective book study.

Did anyone see this series? If so, what did you learn from it or like about it?

I have used this book for a class I did in January this year, and it raised some interesting discussions. I will be using it again beginning March 10 for the next four week course entitled, Find Your Place of Serenity.

Below are several quotes from his book to further give an idea of his teachings if you haven’t read it which are not necessarily new but always a good reminder nonetheless:

  • “Awareness is the power that is concealed within the present moment. … The ultimate purpose of human existence, which is to say, your purpose, is to bring that power into this world.”
  • “You do not become good by trying to be good, but by finding the goodness that is already within you, and allowing that goodness to emerge.”
  • “Become conscious of being conscious.”
  • “Can you look without the voice in your head commenting, drawing conclusions, comparing, or trying to figure something out?”
  • “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.”
  • “You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are.”
  • “Living up to an image that you have of yourself or that other people have of you is inauthentic living.”
  • “Awareness is the greatest agent for change.”
  • “Defining yourself through thought is limiting yourself.”
  • “The past has no power to stop you from being present now. Only your grievance about the past can do that.”
  • “Rather than being your thoughts and emotions, be the awareness behind them.”
  • “What the future holds for you depends on your state of consciousness now.”
